English language apps for migrants

Learn English

Learn English is Anspear's flagship language app offering learners of basic English support with vocabulary, spelling, reading, writing, speaking, listening and grammar skills. The course is based on the ESOL Skills for Life syllabus. The app is rich in audiovisual material and is divided into practical language themes, such as Health, Travel and Transport and Home, family and friends. Quizzes and games help learners to review the material in at their own pace.

London’s History

In collaboration with the Museum of London and the City of London Corporation, Anspear developed an extensive course in British history aimed at developing English language skills. A range of video, listening and reading comprehension exercises introduce learners to the important periods in British history, with a special focus on the City of London. Vocabulary and grammar support with each exercise helps to make the material accessible, whilst opportunities for revision and review are built into the program to reinforce new language skills. The course is suitable for students with an intermediate level of English, but should also be engaging for more advanced learners or students looking to improve their literacy.

Available on Google Play and on the App Store, or go to our App site to learn more.

Life in the UK

Life in the UK, a British Citizenship course breaks down the material for the Life in UK test in a visually engaging way, with extensive vocabulary support, colourful imagery and frequent opportunities to review the material in short quizzes. The app is suitable for learners who are preparing to take the Life in the UK test, those who want to learn more about British culture and institutions, and those who have an intermediate to advanced level of English.
