The phrase 'Anglo-Saxon England' covers a huge length of time – from about 400 to 1066. That's over 600 years, more time than separates us from Henry VIII!

This makes it very difficult to talk about the whole Anglo-Saxon period of history because things changed, just as they have changed between Tudor times and today.
